Supporting Local Art Since 1975

The River Artisans Cooperative holds the work of over twenty local artists.

We're a hands-on, heart-first cooperative — run by artisans, for artisans!

Our cozy little shop, nestled on the Square in downtown Bellows Falls, Vermont, is a colorful treasure trove of local creativity. You'll find handmade napkins, quilts, prints, wooden cutting boards, jewelry, handwoven baskets, and all sorts of delightful surprises made by the talented folks who also run the place. We’re makers, doers, and dreamers and we invite you to come see what we’ve been up to!

Our History

Way back in 1975, a group of local artists and makers in Saxtons River, Vermont, came together to create something special: a vibrant, welcoming space where creativity could thrive outside the white walls of a formal gallery. They called it the Jelly Bean Tree — because why not add a little whimsy?

That dream blossomed into what is now the River Artisans Cooperative: a true, hands-on, heart-powered cooperative run entirely by its members. Our shop is staffed by the same folks who create the beautiful work inside, no middlemen, no corporate gloss, just real artists supporting one another.

Operating costs are kept down-to-earth thanks to a modest monthly display fee and commission on sales, with the rest covered by community-powered fundraising like our annual Solstice Raffle and Fall Yard-Sale.

It's art, it’s heart, and it’s all homegrown.
